Schedule Day 1, 9:45am/7pm Day 2, 9:00am/6:30pm This 2-day Course in Thyroid Tumors will consist of - Lectures alternating with discussions of cases. - Flash Drive containing the images of the slide seminar will be sent with a handout to the participants who will receive an access to the PowerPoint presentations website. - Participants are strongly encouraged to bring slides of interesting cases (1 or 2) for interactive discussion. Objectives After the completion of the session, participants will be able to: 1. Describe and diagnose the common types of well differentiated (papillary and follicular), poorly differentiated and undifferentiated carcinomas, as well as medullary carcinoma. 2.Make the differential diagnosis of the major types of encapsulated follicular patterned tumours – follicular adenoma, follicular variant of papillary carcinoma and minimally invasive follicular carcinoma – learning to insert in the aforementioned frame the following “entities”: follicular tumour of uncertain malignant potential UMP), well differentiated tumour, UMP, and Non-invasive follicular thyroid neoplasia with papillary-like nuclear features (NIFTP). 3. Select the most promising immunohistochemical and molecular markers for diagnostic and prognostic/predictive purposes in the field of thyroid oncology.
